The roach, Google Doodle
Feb. 2021
I created a black and white animated Google Doodle using Photoshop, inspired by Kafka's "The Metamorphosis." This short, looping animation explores themes of transformation and identity, reflecting my upcoming study abroad experience in Franz Kafka's home country, the Czech Republic. Concepts include dark themes, shifting perspectives, and isolated figures.

Concept Statement – Original Artist Talk: May 2024
Our bodies harbor many of the emotions that we don't always acknowledge. Held in our subconscious, these feelings can manifest in coping mechanisms like alcohol and self-harm, physical ailments such as heart disease and stroke, or deteriorate our mental well-being through conditions like depression and schizophrenia. These unresolved emotions can also exacerbate existing disconnection within families, leading to isolation and ostracization.
The value of this piece lies in its ability to encourage viewers to explore their family dynamics and the emotions they may have suppressed. It acknowledges that two truths can coexist without devaluing their opposition and that the path to understanding and connection is paved with vulnerability and self-reflection.
